Cloverfield

The Cloverfield franchise is a series of films connected by the theme of monstrous, otherworldly threats captured through unconventional storytelling. Beginning with the 2008 found-footage film directed by Matt Reeves, the series depicts a massive creature attacking New York City as seen through the lens of a personal camcorder.

The franchise expanded with 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), a psychological thriller set in a bunker during an alien invasion, and The Cloverfield Paradox (2018), which explores a particle accelerator experiment that tears open dimensional rifts.

Key elements of the franchise include Tagruato Corporation, the deep-sea drilling company linked to awakening the original creature, and the Slusho! brand — an in-universe beverage whose secret ingredient comes from the ocean floor. The ARG (alternate reality game) marketing campaigns became legendary for their cryptic clues and viral websites.
