King Kong

King Kong is the original cinematic giant monster, first appearing in the landmark 1933 RKO film. A colossal ape discovered on the mysterious Skull Island, Kong has been reimagined across nearly a century of filmmaking — from the stop-motion marvel of the original to the motion-capture spectacle of Peter Jackson's 2005 remake.

In the MonsterVerse continuity, Kong appears in Kong: Skull Island (2017), set in 1973, where a Monarch expedition encounters him as the last of his species — a guardian protecting Skull Island's ecosystem from subterranean predators called Skullcrawlers. He later appears in Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024), journeying into the Hollow Earth, his species' ancestral home.

Key Kong lore includes the ancient war between Kong's species and Godzilla's, the Hollow Earth as the origin point of all Titans, and Kong's unique intelligence and tool use that sets him apart from other kaiju. Unlike most Titans, Kong forms bonds with humans, maintaining the "beauty and the beast" theme from 1933.
